Guest guest Posted June 9, 2005 Report Posted June 9, 2005 I have been doing a bit of research on islet transplants. True it can help to produce insulin. It can even get you off all insulin and oral medications But this does not mean you can go out and start drinking cokes. You will always have to monitor your blood glucose and take an ac1 test every three months. They are doing some clinical trials at St 's Hospital in Long Beach, CA. I am trying to get my doctor to recommend me since I am being insulin resistant (humalog 3x a day aprox. 40 unites per and Lantus twice a day 44 units per). My insurance company has recently denied me my insulin because they need a preauthorization for over two vials a month. I am using three each type. I hate insurance companies (but they are a necessary evil). I see my doctor on the 27th. Marla Quote
