When one of the tornadoes we had recently hit, the first people that got it didn't have a warning, it sort of suddenly sprang up. I think we get less warning with them then the midwest does because we're a mountainous region.

See us Mid-westeners can't figure that out too why they didn't get the h+ll outta there too. We get tornado's and now we get "some" warning one's acomin. Those mobile home people had atleast 24 hours. Tornado's change paths and so do hurricanes...lol

I'm still glad you're ok....lol

Yeah, I hear three confirmed dead so far if its the same place. power lines all over the place & trees too so emt's are having a hard time getting through. Its in Punta Gorda. I can't understand the rationale that lets people stay in mobile home parts when they tell everyone in them to go to the shelters. They had the progression wrong but they new the storms path had changed by yesterday at nine am.

I think the change in course was actually less than an hour...it was predicted to be headed for Tampa and all of a sudden it took almost a 90 degree turn and headed inland. I heard one gentleman in his 70's and said he had lived here all his life and he and his wife were in the process of doing everything they could to prepare for the storm but still expecting it to hit Tampa...and it was as though they turned they back and it had taken a 90 degree turn towards Punta Gorda.

Yeah, as I said, the Tampa Bay people are whining because Tampa did not get hit & they left their homes. Waaah. We are lucky we are not living a hundred years ago where one minute everything was bright & sunny & then you had no home & had been washed down river like so much flotsam. I am not sure the people in punta gorda had 24 hrs though, probably more like six or so. I think they started broadcasting the change in course around nine am yesterday. they were not sure it would hit there but were mentioning it was a definite possibility.
