Guest guest Posted August 17, 2004 Report Share Posted August 17, 2004 My brother called my Dad yesterday AM and they had stayed in Orlando a couple of days, but were heading to his friend's ....they were unsure of their route because their original route would have taken then right through Porto Gordo.....or whatever the name of the place the hurricane wiped out....I know I spelled it wrong. Apparently their friends' house is OK....I forgot to ask but I think I remember that it's in the Port Charlotte area. Kathy trip I'm back from our trip, we had a blast. I broke even with the gambling, but the whole trip cost me about $85...tips, part of one meal, tolls, etc, which I think is pretty darn good for two nights in an extremely nice hotel on the beach, meals for three days and a show! We saw Black on Friday night and it was a great show. I mean with the resignation of the NJ governor, Trump declaring bankruptcy for his casino holdings, and the current Presidential race....well, lets just say he had alot to work with, LOL I felt the worst I've ever felt yesterday because 1) I overdid, of course, 2) we have that weather front moving in (DAWN and JANE and FONDA and CHRISY and SARAH and anyone else I'm forgetting....has the hurricane cause any problems for you? I know you are in the path. We're supposed to get the tail end so I'm expecting alot of heavy rain...but we've had alot of rain all summer...but nothing more here) 3) my allergies and asthma are acting up plus I was in the casino smoke for a couple of days so I'm sure my O2 levels are down, 4) I only slept 3 hours the night before we left and then was up later than usual on Friday, too and 5) hmmmm, I had a 5 a minute ago...LOL Anyway, got in the hottub as soon as we got home plus was taking pills for breakthrough pain the whole time plus my lungs are now in the process of getting rid of the stuff that's been plugging them up so I'm feeling somewhat better today...not back to my normal, but better. BUT I know I brought it on myself and I went into the trip with eyes wide open and having made the decision that the trip (we went with both sets of parents, BTW) was worth it, and it was. Guest guest Posted August 23, 2004 Report Share Posted August 23, 2004 I am going to shop for a stool for her because she insists on still hand washing her dishes...she refuses to let us put in a dish washer for her. Originally it was because she thought it would take too much water...but that was when we were still on well water. At one time she was the same way about A/C also but we put it in and she really enjoys it. Guess we'll just put in the DW and overrule her. We put in county water and she has adjusted to it and finally has been drinking it (after about 18 months of doing switchbacks to well water to draw off gallons of well water to drink). It is so hard to teach an old dog new tricks. She does have a crock pot and I've used it since I've been here but I've still had to get everything else ready and Jim hasn't even made ice or filled the glasses. Boy, is he going to pay for it when we get to our condos for the next couple weeks of vacation. My legs are killing me. He wonders why I don't feel like going out and playing. I was even out trimming trees today (so they would scrap cars coming into the yard)...I asked him to help...but once again he didn't even come into the yard to see if he could help carry off all the trash. Tomorrow and Thurs. it's doctor appt's for my Mom. I don't know who would be filling in if I weren't here. I'm ready for bed or a vacation. LOL Jane RE: trip Jane - Are you going to Hot Springs, Arkansas?? If so how are you going into it?? I'm a little over 5 hours from there, with you living in FL it seems such a short distance to say 5 hours. lol But I know would do the big whine if I asked him to drive me there so I could meet you. When are you planning on being there? Hope the neuropathy is doing better.
