Hi MM.....Thanks so much for that information about Lactobacillus. I have written that name down so I won't forget it, otherwise......I'll never remember it. I do love yogurt though and always have some on hand when ever I take an antibiotic.

Thanks too for the Zoloft info too. I guess I sounded a little down last night but really I'm alright. Found out I'm anemic again and along with that comes other little problems like the blues and of course the feeling of just being wrung out.

I wish there was something I could do in return to help you deal with your problems. Sounds like your plate is full. I will keep good thoughts for you and your family. Gosh MM.......what a special person you are!

Hugs.....Karol

Karol, Oh, don't thank me...most people would do almost anything to shut me up! Teehee. Anyhow,Lactobacillus is the live cultures (the good ones) that are found in yogurt and some other foods, andwhich restore the right balance of bacteria in the bowel. Taking antibiotics, or having chronic IBSwith loose stools can take those natural bacterium and wash them away. That starts a vicious cycleof cramping and diarrhea. I get the capsules at the local health food market. They come in two types, those that need refrigeration (usually stronger and more reliable version) or those which aredry and encapsulated which do not require refrigeration. I have used both, but find the perishableversion much the better of the two. I will use the non-perishable version if that is all I can get, andit all helps with restoring the right balance. Eating lots of yogurt will, too, but some of us can't takedairy products of any kind, or would have to eat a gallon of the stuff to do any good at all. I have a friend with UC and she is finding that taking Zoloft for her depression has also helped withthe colitis. Just an information bite, there.
