Guest guest
Hi all-- I'm just curious whether any of you have heard of a link between MAs and polyhydramnios (excess amniotic fluid). I'm at 34 weeks with a BU, 1st pg, and was dx with mild polyhydramnios at about 26 weeks. The most common identifiable causes for poly are anomalies of the fetal digestive tract and gestational diabetes, neither of which seem to apply in my case. There is a huge category of " idiopathic " poly (up to 60% of cases), but I'm just wondering whether these two odd things about my pg could be related to each other. At this point the biggest risk with poly is PTL, which of course I'm already at risk for. Fortunately at 34 weeks I can worry less and less about that each day! Thanks-- K. Guest guest
Hi , Congrats on the 34 weeks, wow, you are almost there!! I have UD and interestingly, I had the opposite problem, ie. low amniotic fluid, in all three of my PG's. It was only a mild case each time, so we got by with monitoring - non-stress tests and frequent US, but my OB suspected that the low fluid was a function of the UD, but of course couldn't be sure. I think we all agree that MA- related diagnostics, and particularly some of the more intangible side effects are an inexact science, at best All the best to you, here's hoping for some more quiet, peaceful weeks in the homestrech, Lia UD, mom of
