Something is wrong somewhere... it takes about 15 minutes for my 3 year old computer to download about 100 emails.... somewhat longer if people have used graphics and fancy fonts and backgrounds or send attachments. (All those fancy thingies will greatly increase the time it takes to send it all - just as photo attachments do). If you forego the fancy stuff (under your Yahoo options for mail for the group choose "plain text" and you won't get anything but plain black and white letters - no icons, no attachments, etc.) > I'm still with the old fashion dial up and, I don't know if Earthlink offers >DSL service... >provider, it says that I am 50.9 This is a really good speed for a 6 year old computer. I can only get on at 28.8 - and dial-up is also my only option from Earthlink (or anybody else!) My tech told me it was the age of my computer, (6 years old) and, three other people told me it was the Internet Provider. I am mixed up now. Another thought is to check what you use for a mail program - if you are using Outlook or Outlook Express, you might need to update the version from an old version to the 6.0 version. Did all these problems start recently? Or are they just getting to you know more than they used to? If recent, can you think of anything that was changed (or if someone was working with your computer - changing software or altering settings or ??????)? Guest guest
Trudy Crisler ladybug2643@... Why Wait? Move to EarthLink. I don't know what I am going to do now. This Earthlink takes it's sweet time downloading my mail and, sometimes, it takes over 2 hours to download all of it. I have no clue if it's my computer or Internet Provider. I'm still with the old fashion dial up and, I don't know if Earthlink offers DSL service. I am going to do some more computer shopping tomorrow and, see what I can get. When I sign on to this provider, it says that I am 50.9 (can't remember the initials behind it) My tech told me it was the age of my computer, (6 years old) and, three other people told me it was the Internet Provider. I am mixed up now. I do admit it though, before I went with this one, AOL had messed me up even worse. I wish I can afford RoadRunner but here, it's close to $50.00 a month. We do have SBCGlobal that I might check out too. I just hope I can get your mails downloaded tomorrow. Take care everyone and, Love and, Hugs to all Trudy
