Guest guest Posted May 28, 2005 Report Posted May 28, 2005 Well.. I'm not in Texas yet.. I have a month go.. but I volunteer in high class suburbia NJ and the volume of jobs is very low. Now I work in a very tough low income bad well known dangerous area.. In the higher class area, it's mostly Medicals like chest pain, asthma, diabetic emergencies, cva, ect sometimes an MVA. In the area where I work. It also the chest pain ect medical jobs but it is mostly trauma, such as MVA's a plenty. Plenty of Gun shot wounds stabbings and assaults.. alot of EDP's too. which I have never had in my volunteer area. Where I work there are hundreds of bars.. and lots of bar fights. Also, since i have volunteered. 3 years now. There has only been one fire. Where I work fire's are a plenty!! Most of the MVA's at work that I have worked up were from intoxicated drivers... where I volunteer. I've worked up one major major MVA that was from an intoxicated driver. ( rolled his van over twice on my patient who was riding a bike;-() and yes he did live.. btw. but the other MVA's were minor fender benders or just accidents cuased by the driver not paying attention ect.. So.. I notice the difference from night and day. between the two areas. ps.. I am not discrimanating areas.. I treat all of my patients the same and my care is the same whether they mke 100,00 a year or whether they make 5,000 a year. I'm just pointing out myown personal observations.. which may be meaningless since I have yet to work in Texas. LOL!! xxxx Quote
