Depo is some crazy stuff!! I betcha that's your problem. She had to stop taking the shots. A gyno that doesn't do pelvic exams isn't really a gyno then right? Maybe you need to find a better gyno who is willing to help you. Guest guest Posted April 26, 2004 Report Share Posted April 26, 2004 I've been on the depo shot for the past 8 years. Haven't had a period in all that time. It's wonderful. But there is a downside. My surgeon said that the depo shot may be the reason I gained so much weight. He told me I could stay on it for now, but if my weight loss plateaus before I'm anywhere near goal, I may have to go off it. Weight gain IS one of the many side effects of the depo shot. Though I've always been the first one to support the shot, I personally wouldn't recommend it to any WLS patients.
