Guest guest
My son Ben (9 yrs)recently had a CI evaluation at Boston Children's Hospital with Dr. Marilyn Neault (director of audiology) and Dr. Licamelli (surgeon). Dr. Neault called us Tuesday and told us that Ben is a candidate for a cochlear implant. She will have everything scheduled and we are planning for an October surgery date. Dr. Licamelli called us yesterday with the results of the CT scan and the MRI. He believes that, from the MRI, that Ben's progressive hearing loss is related to CMV that I most likely had when I was pregnant. Ben also has muscle hypotonia, which is also related to CMV. So, now we know what caused the hearing loss. Now that we actually have the approval for the implant, I am getting very nervous. We have been hoping for a long time that he could get the implant. Its going to be a long 2 months.
