Guest guest Posted August 22, 2006 Report Posted August 22, 2006 Although it's probably better than most tap water, there are spots in Quetico Provincial Park that ARE contaminated, primarily from inadequate camper hygiene. I use a filter specifically designed to remove particles greater than .3 microns (http://www.backcountry.com/store/EXT0044/c3/s16/Katadyn-Guide-Water-Filter. html), which does remove Giardia. As a backup, we can also boil water (10 minutes) or treat with iodine tablets. I've been to Tuolomne Meadows, and upper Yosemite area many times (but it's been many years). We were just car camping but the site had no tap- we got water from either the creek, or a tap in Tuolomne Meadows... Quote
