Guest guest Posted November 29, 2006 Report Posted November 29, 2006 Quick health update: The conclusion to the hospital stay was that I had suffered a very severe case of C-Diff which is a bacterial infection caused by antibiotics. It probably started during the last hospitalization a few weeks back and then just got worse and worse until I couldn't ignore it any more. When I checked into Baylor Wednesday, my blood counts had dipped way down again and although the bone marrow did not detect any lymphoma, the oncologist told Dr. Hamilton last week that if I did not get off of the Prograf (my antirejection drug), that I would end up with cancer. This is truly a catch-22 b/c I have to be on Prograf to stay alive, however, they are hoping that I can stay on a VERY small dose of it along with the Prednisone with acceptable results. He reiterated that the only way all of this is going to work is by the doctors following me more closely than ever before. As I said in my last email, the AIH (auto-immune hep) is something that can take off and destroy the liver at any time, so we've got to pray about that a lot and watch it closely. Quote
