I recently got the barrier covers for all my bedding (duvet cover, mattress cover, pillow cases) and now I don't have to be wondering what is lurking in my bed (dust mites, mold spores, etc). They weren't cheap but they were top of the line and very comfortable. They are totally breathable so they aren't plasticky at all. I almost tossed my down comforter because it's getting old and I thought it might be causing me problems. Now I don't have to. You can order through a catalog or online. You'll never have to wash your pillows again because the cases seal in/out anything that might be in there. I love mine.
