Guest guest
// what do doctors know? I've had to leave 2 because they insist that a black person can't have cea. // Indeed. I am no longer surprised at the level of ignorance about this condition. I'm fairly sure that the National cea Society web site mentions that black people can and do get rosacea. Skin heating from vasodilation, acne, telangiectic vessels and other dead giveaways occur. No age or racial group is immune, to my knowledge. ~Jim _________________________________________________________________ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com

Guest guest
I checked and the NRS site does say that any skin type can get cea. I guess being called the best derm in the Niagara Region creates a god-like feeling. Hence living in a mostly white area one wouldn't be openminded enough to accept the idea that a non-white person could have this disease. Hmm.... I wonder if we could create an " avoid this derm list " as well?! > // what do doctors know? I've had to leave 2 because they insist that a > black person can't have cea. // > Indeed. Guest guest
I have had rosacea since I was 20. I experienced a flare at age 12, when placed under UV light and black light for science experiment. However, I knew at age 9 that I would develop rosacea, from the picture in nursing texts. I also have a thyroid disease which necessitates taking a synthetic form of the thyroid hormone, T3, which is intimately involved in all cellular activity in the body. It probably caused a flush and rise in body temp. I have always had a vascular flushing, face. My father had rosacea, also; we are of Irish extraction. I am now post menopausal. cea did not interfere with my life, except cosmetically. Very sensitve skin to EVERYTHING and grew up before sunblocks invented.
