Guest guest Posted November 23, 2006 Report Posted November 23, 2006 Wanted to let you all know that Roland is in hospital in Halifax. He hasn`t been feeling himself since he caught that flu at the end of Oct and his liver functions were out of wack. He was tired all the time and for a man who can go with as little as 3hrs sleep was sleeping 24/24, this certainl wasn`t his normal. The clinic had him repeat bloodword on Mon and Wed. The liver functions are going down but his INR(blood clotting) was at 5 with blood in his stool. They were very concerned over this as well. His liver also tested positive for a kind of virus that is apparently common so he was placed on Valcyte for 3 months to help fight this so that he would not catch it. Apparently the bug has returned as Halifax ran a test for it.Since his sister was going to Halifax on Wed, the clinic wanted him to go up and have the doctor check him out. He did a repeat bloodwork this morning and his liver functions are going down but not like they would like. His BP was very low, which would explain his tiredness as well. With all that is going on, the floor doctor decided to admit him in order to get his medication regulated again as well as getting this virus under control so he can resume a normal functioning day.Am off this weekend but am not going up....being before Christmas and funds being tight, it is not an option. Besides, he told me that they kept his clinic appointment for next Thurs and has hemotology on Fri. Where we were going up then, I will go alone and hopefully, he will be able to return home with me on Friday. IF he is discharged before then, am going to tell him to stay there till I go on Wed. Much easier on both of us.For those who wish to call, he is at the at the QEII Health Sciences Centre . Just ask for him by name when phoning the switchboard at . HOpe that is the right number.Gisele & girls __________________________________________________ Quote
