tips on Carlsbad

Hope your daughter's surgery goes well. Legoland is a lot of fun!

There is a website called www.glutenfreeinsd.com and is operated by

one of our members, Roxie. She has an extensive list of

restaurants, stores, etc. for the San Diego area... and she updates

if often. Check out her site.

The best part about the San Diego/LA/Carlsbad area is that there are

In-N-Out Burgers, which do " protein style " meals (without the bun)

and they don't look at you like you have three heads when you place

an order like that. (also, they don't serve chicken nuggets/tenders

or onion rings, so there are no cross contamination issues with

their oils).

A few tips on LegoLand... they sell Legos by the pound there. Just

grab a bag and fill 'er up! They also have unique colors there

which are not found anywhere else. There is another area of the

park which sells these " thingies " (can't recall what their real name

is...) but they are like apple fries or something, and come with a

blob of seasoned cool whip to dip them in. I have no idea if

these " apple fries " are gluten free or not... but when we lived in

San Diego... EVERY single one of our friends who visited us, asked

if we could get these apple fries at LegoLand. (I had not even

heard of them). Anyway, it is worth checking to see if they are

GF. (our daughter wasn't interested in that sort of snack, so I

never investigated it for myself).

We also had a wonderful time picking strawberries at a place right

by LegoLand. (fun, simple, and GLUTEN FREE!) There is also a

beautiful flower place right by there, but it is seasonal.

As for the LA area... there is Disney, Knotts Berry Farm, Medeival

Times, etc. I think all are fun places, but Knotts Berry Farm is

VERY outdated your money may be better spent at the other

attractions.

Take care,

Melonie
