Guest guest Posted January 12, 2006 Report Posted January 12, 2006 Why is it that now that we are dealing with Celiac and gf, this year all the " fun " group activities my kids are doing center around gluten??? My 2 daughters (7.5 and 5.5yo) go to Explorer Girls, which is like Girl Scouts. In two weeks is the annual Mother/Daughter night, a highly anticipated night of fun. So quess what the theme of the night is this year? Cake decorating contest. Ugh! Could they pick anything more difficult for me to deal with??? Well hopefully they won't do pancake making for Daddy/Daughter night again this year, my dh also has CD. Anyway, I'm thinking about skipping it. My dd's leader is so nice, understanding, helpful. She will give me the list of ingredients in the frosting and what they will be using to decorate the cakes, offered to provide us with rubber gloves, is willing to do whatever is necessary. But still, what a hassle! I'm thinking I will have to bring our own gf cake, gf frosting, gf colored decorating frostings with tips, gf things to decorate the cake with, etc. And this is supposed to be fun! Also we have a Homeschool field trip that day which I already have to deal with about lunch at Mcs (no outside food allowed in the special lunch room they've set aside for us, but will make acception for my dd). It all makes me feel like never going anywhere or doing anything (and having a good cry, besides). I'm not asking any questions this time, just venting. Thanks for hearing me out.
