Guest guest Posted May 17, 2006 Report Posted May 17, 2006 -----Original Message----- This is probably one of the hardest things I've ever had to do (how do you tell someone who you love and want to have a long term relationship with that your number might get called in just a couple of years?) Does anyone out there have any advice or support they can offer? There is one thing I’d advise for you to remember and consider and that is, that you both are very young. One of the good things about being 18 is that you don’t have to make hard core decisions right now. You both have years of school in front of you, new experiences and challenges to meet, fun and games to play, job hunting, apartment hunting etc, etc. You’re probably several years away from settling down and planning a family. So, my advice …. tell her and tell her the truth, you can even go to ’s web site and let her read about PSC for herself. But remember, at 18, neither of you needs to make every life altering decision right now. Date, have fun, don’t get too serious about life, enjoy being in love and taking each day as it comes. My son’s last girlfriend couldn’t cope with PSC and when she stopped dating him, he quit dating altogether, (he says he doesn’t think it’s fair to a girl, I think it’s fear of being rejected again), either way, that’s a big mistake. On the other hand Tyler’s (his mom use to be a member) girl friend made the decision to become a Registered nurse after she learned about his PSC, so she could be informed and take care of him if needed. ((For the old timer’s who remember, they were still dating last I heard)). Good luck , I bet you won’t need it though, you sound like a wonderful young man and any girl would be lucky to have you fall in love with her. Barb in Texas Quote
