Hi and welcome to the group. No, 20 mg of Prednisone every other day is not

a large dose. Some IgAN patients start on daily doses of 60+ mg/day.

I am glad you are looking for another Nephrologist. The relationship with

your Nephrologist is just so important, especially if your IgAN progresses. If

you did not feel comfortable with your first one, you definitely did the right

thing by seeking out another one.

I live in CA, so I can't give you any recommendations, but I wish you all the

best with your new doctor in Winchester.

Hi ,

I've been told by my neph that in his opinion - for my treatment

anyway - 30 mg prednisone daily was about as low as he felt he could

go while still effective.

20 mg every other day seems quite low...however, perhaps your neph

feels that this is the best amount for you. There are other people

here who have had to take up to 80 mg prednisone daily.

I hope this helps. The best thing really is to ask your neph about

the dosage and why he/she thinks this amount and timing is right for

you.
