I plan on nursing my twins until they decided for themselves to wean. They

are now 13 months old and its going really great. It is actually the only

time I have to sit down and relax and watch a little tv.

I had only planned to go to six months with my last, a year if all went

well. I then educated myself a bit more and self-weaned at 21 months.

I was heart broken that she decided she was done and if there is ever

another child, I will do everything in my power to nurse at least 2 years.

IMO, preferred a binky to mom cuz she could run around with it. We

only recently weaned her off of that and she is 3 ½ now.

Until my daughter weans. She will be 2 next month and shows no signs of

weaning.

Since my first never bf, I just hoped with my 2nd that it would work. I was planning on 6 months, then 12 months but she just never stopped. She's 2 1/2 now and will probably self wean by the end of this year at the rate she's going. I have a new baby who is 4 months, he will self wean as well.

I nursed my daughter for 13 months and sorely regretted letting her wean to

bottles. When I got pg I thought I would nurse at least 2 years. Now Zaid

is almost 3 and I am hoping that he will continue for a long time. With the

average natural weaning age being 4 to 7, it would be nice if he nursed

until he is at least 4. I know that whenever he decides to wean that it

will be hard for me. He will be small for such a brief time that I want to

savour every moment of it.

amount--choose a time when you feel like you have the least milk (or when

feedings are closest together) and just offer. Sometimes working moms do

this at day care so that they can nurse when together and have to pump less,

though your situation is unique.

Once started, then you choose how much to increase--in volumes and in

frequencies. I was always conservative with my first, but now I am faced

with starting #2 on something within the week.
