Guest guest
Aruna: I was having problems with the pains in my legs at night. It was actually more like cramps. My neph put me on Quinine and it has improved. If I forget to take it, the pain returns. She had said it was because of the toxins in my system. I am also on a very high dose of Prednisone of 80mg/day. Guest guest
Hi Aruna, I'm currently on 30 mg daily prednisone, and have been for the past 4 months now. Sweating apparently is one side-effect of the drug, although in my own experience, it has only happened maybe twice for no reason (so I blame the pred). I am wondering if your husband's muscle's might be stiff because of dehydration? When I first started the prednisone, I had terrible knee pain, swelling in the knees and ankles and muscle cramps in the legs all the time. I was quite frightened, because I am an active girl - I do dancing, golfing, and this summer, sailing. Plus I try to walk to work sometimes (half-hr walk). Anyways, it turned out that being on prednisone requires drinking A LOT of water. In the past, I used to drink 1.5 L bottle of water at work; now it's 2.5 - 3 L. Only in the last few weeks have my legs and joints feel normal, more or less (my knees still complain after 18 holes of golfing!). So I hope that this will help your husband. Also, I'm taking calcium carbonate and vitamin D supplements to try and counter the bone loss...perhaps your husband may want to try that too if he's not already taking them. Good luck! Hope it helps.
