I am going to be LID for thanksgiving because my second > scan (6-month since last one) is Dec.4th. thanks tonya As Debbi said, if you'll be doing the cooking yourself, most recipes won't need to be changed. You can even add marshmallows to your sweet potatoes, if you want (most marshmallows are LID safe, but always double check the ingredients list). As for buying a fresh turkey without added salt and juices ... I always buy a fresh turkey, and find that regular basting keeps it very moist. As you know, you can add as much salt as you want, as long as it's not iodized or sea salt. In fact, I'd recommend putting your iodized salt shakers and containers on a shelf out of reach for the duration of the diet; it's surprisingly easy to grab it by mistake out of habit. LID desserts will probably be the most thought intensive, but shouldn't be a big problem, either. There are several types of pie crust alternatives, although it's probably easiest to make something like the apple crisp from the ThyCa cookbook (msg #21980), which would probably be great with cranberries added (dry or fresh). If you have specific recipes that you're having trouble converting to be low iodine, let us know and we can help you out. - NYC
