Guest guest Posted March 10, 2006 Report Posted March 10, 2006 I'm so glad that it didn't bother you. It really doesn't bother me either. I kind of snapped at a nice lady at Sam's on Sat and I felt bad. She asked if we got is at Shriners - I said I wish but no they don't offer it. It turns out the Shriners helped her granddaughter a lot. She was shocked they couldn't do this, I am too kind of but oh well I digress. I'm so happy you are making headway on the e/i and PT front. na, DOC Grad Feb 04, Tort Resolved Kiersten, DOC Band 1/10/06, Tort www.thefilyaws.com/plagio/plagio.html --- In Plagiocephaly , " alwell_sherry " <type916@...> wrote: > > It was a beautiful " spring like " day in NYC today 70+ degrees so we > spent the day outside. Guest guest Posted March 11, 2006 Report Posted March 11, 2006 Hello Sherry and everyone else in this group. This is my first posting ever and I think it's great that this group is available to all parents/family of plagiokids. I know I had a lot of questions answered in the Q & A and just by reading the message post. I just decided to reply to you, Sherry because I am going through similar experience with EI and the helmet in NYC. My daughter Ayumi was diagnosed with horizontal nystagmus (sideway shaking of the eye)which led us to apply to EI for OT, PT, and vision therapy. We used to get comments about her fast moving eyes often already, and now that she has the helmet (Starband from Kidi- Splint), she is a question magnet! Fortunately, Ayumi is a very social baby and she loves it when people stop by to ask and I never mind talking to anyone about anything that has to do with my little Ayumi! She is now 10 1/2 months old and she's had the band for a month. At the last fitting, I was told that her flat side had grown out 1/2cm already after 3 weeks! I just finished filling out all the necessary paperwork to get the helmet reimbursed by EI. Are you getting EI to pay for your helmet, or are you going through your insurance? I just went with EI because I heard that United Health Care wasn't too good about paying for this. Best of luck with Chase! Guest guest Posted March 11, 2006 Report Posted March 11, 2006 Tomoko that's great she's had her band for a month! Chase is reaching a month soon - this upcoming week - Tuesday. This group is great you're right. I could not have survived without it. I wrote you an email about the EI as I have many questions about the helmet reimbursement and PT and OT. Lots of troubles. I haven't been lucky with it yet but it's getting better. Sherry Chase (7 months) tort. Guest guest Posted March 13, 2006 Report Posted March 13, 2006 Tomoko, Please share your secret for getting EI to pay for a helmet. I know many here who were told that EI wouldn't pay only sometimes Medicaide. I am glad to hear this group has helped you out already and hope that you will continue to be an active part of our little slightly off round community. Guest guest Posted March 13, 2006 Report Posted March 13, 2006 Carol I was also told that EI may pay for the helmet/band if the insurance company did not. That's NY now so I'm not sure about other states. I'm also going to try to submit to them too. I was told to provide an invoice. Out of 3 appeals and EI someone should pay eventually. The only thing I was able to get was 500.00 family fund allocation to buy the special things I needed to help with Dominicks' therapy and educate me.
