Hi Viola,

That is great news for you! That is right around the corner! Did you

do anything special to get called for this cancellation?

I have surgery with Dr Reines in August, and I have been desperately

hoping to get called for a cancellation. My surgery date is the week

my childrens' day care is closed. I will suck it up and deal with it

if I don't get in on a cancellation, but it will be very

inconvenient. Did you send flowers, or call there each week, or

anything else, or did they just call you out of the blue?

- I have surgery with Dr. Thayer. I didn't do anything

special. My date was September 11 and on Thursday morning I received

a call from and she just said that there had been a

cancellation and if I wanted to move up. I thought maybe I would

move up to August or somehting and when she said next week tuesday, I

almost fell of my chair. I had pre-testing today and have to be

there at 6:00 a.m. on tuesday for surgery at 8:00 a.m.

Maybe you get lucky. Just make sure that you are on their

cancellation list and maybe you get lucky too. I really didn't

expect this, at least not on such short notice. Good luck to you.

How long is it usually from the time you go to the clinic and decide

you need surgery until the surgery date. How long of a preparation

is it? Just wondering looking into getting it if I can.

Thanks

It all depends on how fast your teeth move to the appropriate places before

surgery. My Orthodontist told me it would be about 1 year but since my back

teeth were stubborn and didn't want to move I waited a year and 9 months.

What type of surgery are you having done? Upper/lower, ect.

good for you! i just have one question: did they inform you of the

cost of this surgery? i just got a copy of my hospital bill - just

the hospital stay (i have not gotten the bill from the surgeons

yet)... $79,000.69!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

granted, i was not the 'norm'... i had an open proceedure that also

was a revision of 2 prior stomach stapling surgeries. my hospital

stay was 8 days and included one day in the ICU (the ICU cost for

one day was $10,150.00).

my incision became infected and " exploded " so i have had a visiting

nurse come to my home every day for the last 3 weeks to irrigate the

wound... i have no idea what the cost of that will be.

i am not freaking out because my surgery is completely covered by my

insurance (thank God!) - i would NEVER EVER EVER have been able to

have this surgery if it wasn't covered! i am estimating a final cost

of well over $125,000.00 when all the bills are in and the dust

settles. whew!

the good news is that if you have your surgery done laproscopically,

it's WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY less money.

i wish you luck (and a winning lottery ticket too)
