Starting ALA?

Hi all

Following an abdominal injury a year and a half ago, I developed

terrible unexplained health issues that have, to be quite honest,

destroyed my life.

All the symptoms fit with the mercury diagnosis... but of course, no

doc here thinks that's possible. Mind you, none of them believe in

autoimmune inner ear disease either (my hearing is slowly

deteriorating). We're a bit backward in the UK.

Anyhow... I had my last very leaky-looking amalgam removed in March,

started on DMSA at 12.5mg Cutler protocol, had immediate reactions to

it (tingling, warm fuzzy feeling, but worsening tinnitus).

But all docs still insisted it couldn't be mercury (and very low

mercury levels in urine, blood, etc). So I kind of stopped with the

DMSA until recently.

But recent docs do seem to think a lot of what's happening to me is

neurological... but don't have any explanation why I should suddenly

have got these symptoms. From my own research I'm aware it could be

immune mediated due to leaky gut (definitely have leaky gut,

presumably due to that abdominal injury)... or some weird bacterial

infection similar to Whipple's.

Anyhow, I restarted with DMSA a month ago (thinking, if it's not

mercury it won't do me any harm... but if it is mercury-related, the

sooner I get on with it the better). Have done about three rounds

since. Most recent was 25mg every 3.5 hours. Weirdly, no reaction at

all.

If I'm doing 25mg for three days and nothing's happening, do you

think I can start ALA? It's nearly five months since the amalgam

removal... although I only chelated sporadically since then. Or

should I really bump up the DMSA and see if I get a reaction at a

higher dose?

Would obviously like to start ALA asap as the neurological aspect of

what's happening to me isn't (I assume) going to be helped at all by

just staying on DMSA.
