Guest guest
I just joined the thyroid support group and thought I'd post a quick message. I started feeling really awful all of the time about 3 months ago and knew something wasn't right. Since there is a strong history of thyroid conditions in my family, I began to do some research and became convinced that I'm hypothyroid. Tuesday I had my first appointment with a specialist who was highly recommended to me and who turned out to be an even better doctor than I was expecting. She listened carefully to everything I had to say and we spent a good amount of time going over my symptoms. By the end of the appointment she was as confident as I am that I'm hypothyroid and proceeded to order all of blood work/tests she felt necessary to make a diagnosis, including a scan for any sign of thyroid cancer which runs in my family. I'm waiting to hear back from her re: my results (hopefully by tomorrow), but in the meantime, thought it couldn't hurt to join a support group, since it's a good way to meet people who are on the same page as me. It's very hard to talk to people, even family and friends, who aren't dealing with something like this b/c they just cannot relate. Anyway...I just wanted to get my name out there as I'm sure I'll have much more to talk about once I find out what exactly it is that's going on. ~
