Hobbys..Don't know if I really have time for hobbies as such. I enjoy my power tools..I do most home repairs, decorating etc. Usually if I have time and I am not busy with the boys or running the boys some where then I tend to read books on decorating or how to books that type of stuff.Kats3boys

My Yahoo name is knodgery. It was the first word that

came into my mind when I signed up to Yahoo and really

surprised me. My childhood was not happy but one very

warm memory is as a small child, sitting in a pile of

sawdust in the corner of my father’s workshop. He made

a lot of our furniture. I remember watching him make a

dressing table with a little glass shelf for

cosmetics. He told me it was for a grand lady; well it

turned out it was for me and I loved it. His name for

woodwork and any other DIY was knodgery (with the k

sounded, cuh-nodgery). Any female craft was knittery

(pronounced cuh-nittery). There was a host of other

‘family’ words not used outside the house. He made a

lot of our toys, doll’s houses, a fairground complete

with a carousel and little horses with real brush

tails. I must have been the only child to have a huge

Spanish galleon in full sail to play with in the

boating pond. He grew flowers to sell on a piece of

land quite a distance from our house. I loved going

with him on Friday evenings to pick the flowers to

sell on Saturday mornings. He had a bicycle with a

cart fixed to the back (this is the 1950s!). I used to

sit in the cart surrounded my flowers. On the way home

my treat was a banana flavoured ice lolly. I still

love the smell of sawdust, flowershops and the taste

of banana ice cream.

My hotmail name is picturemakinghero. That is because

I am a painter and it comes from the early twentieth

century English Art movement called Vorticism. The

vorticists published a manifesto full of Blasts and

Blessings (things they didn’t like and things they

did). They said ‘Bless England and make it safe for

picture making heroes.’ I like the idea of painters

being the heroes.

Well I'm purradebsh, which came about like Chris's, I breed & show British Shorthair cats and I was applying for my prefix. You need to send quite a selection of names, I sent 10 choices and Purrade was number 2 , (my number 1 choice was was Parade), my chosen breed are BSH, so purradebsh it is.

Now there is also a reason for Parade. I was a teenager in the 80's and I was totally obsessed with a band called Spandau Ballet, who named one of their albums............. Parade.

So yes a bit sad, cheesy etc, lol. And yes I am still a fan!!Tammy
