Guest guest Posted August 17, 2005 Report Posted August 17, 2005 I had the stim test today that I have been trying to get information about. The "R" drug mystery is solved. On the IV bottle was printed "R-Gene-10." Underneath it said Arginine. The nurse said it is (like) a growth harmone. The IV infusion was for 30 minutes during which I received an L-Dopa pill and then blood draws every thirty minutes (5 times) Why? Because my IGF-1 is low, 77 on a range of 71-290. My pituitary gland in not putting out TRH, which stimulates TSH and results in secondary hypothyroidism. Complicated, but I think I said this correctly, or close. Treatment? Growth harmone injections daily, at high expense, indefinitely. Anyone who wants to read up on this, I suggest looking under hypothalamus first and then hypopituitary or pituitary deficiency. Has anyone else had this development or treatment? Any feedback? Just for reference: Range T3, total 130 60-181 Free T3 319 230-420 T-4, total 5.1 4.5-12.5 Free T4 0.9 0.8-1.8 TSH 0.11 0.4-5.5 I think I should still get the antibodies test, do you agree? Thanks for your help, I feel I have learned enough for a master's degree in the past two weeks with the help of this group. I didn't even know how to spell pituitary two weeks ago.
