Guest guest
I really is an individual thing I think as far as whether you should be on HRT or not. While I don't consider it a disease, I'm sure if men had to go through the hot flashes and the mood swings, they'd darn well be on medication. Personally, I originally went on HRT because I went through menopause at a relatively young age of 38 or 39.. thereabouts, and at that time, HRT was thought to prevent heart disease in addition to helping with osteoporosis. At first I was put on Premarin and Provera (before PremPro came out), but when I did some research myself and found out how it was made, being an animal lover, I pitched a fit to my GYN and had her change me to synthetic estrogen. (Turns out my GYN didn't know how Premarin was made and agreed with my decision). ly I'm shocked that PETA doesn't raise a major stink about how it's made, but I digress. Anyway, now that the study has come out and some of the hysteria has died down, my GYN and I mutually decided that I can stay on estradiol and Provera for now until we figure out whether or not I'm at risk for osteoporosis and the fact that I'm " only " 49. As I said, she said I could try skipping a day or two now and then for a rest of sorts, but it was really no big deal one way or the other because of my age. I think what age one goes through menopause is a factor, also. No, it's not a disease, it's a condition. Yes, it's natural in some cases, but I wouldn't consider it natural if you go through early menopause like I did, or surgical menopause at whatever age. I don't know about yall, but I would consider " natural " menopause something one goes through at age 60+ with very mild symptoms if any. Other than that, she should be permitted to have HRT at least for a short term until those awful symptoms go away. In other words, what I'm saying is that I don't want to stay " young " forever, but on the other hand, at 49 I'm not ready to be a dried up elderly lady yet either. If I were 70, that would be a horse of a different color Just my opinion for what it's worth. Jan jantranscribes@... " Typing is my life. " " Whoever signs the paycheck makes the rules. " Cabin fever Okay, I have it figured out now. It's not spring fever, it's cabin fever. And the reason it has affected me so early this year is simply because I now live in the south (North Carolina is so much warmer than where I lived in Indiana and Colorado), but the winter started so early this year (remember the ice storm in early December) and has been colder than usual, with much fewer warm and sunny days. Okay, so there were also those two weeks that I spent in Indiana, during which it snowed twice and we spent a lot of time playing in the snow, sledding, snowball fights, etc. Anyway, it's been a long, cold winter. I am very tired of it and ready for spring and ready to get outside and play (working in the garden is playing, right?). Thanks everyone for the suggestions and words of encouragement. Will keep plugging away. Of course it doesn't help that I am having to work during the day today, when the sun is shining and it is almost up to normal for here, right before we are expecting several days of nothing but rain. Oh well, will keep going anyway. Have a great day everyone.
