Hi,

I am scheduled to have a hysteroscopy to remove some mild

scarring with Dr Isaacson. I am scheduled to go to Aruba three

days later (staying for one week). Is this too risky? I'm not sure

what the recovery time is like? I want to get things moving but

don't want to be in a bad situation. I can wait until my next cycle

which would mean having the procedure done in March. Any

thoughts would be appreciated. thanks

Silvana

Silvana, does Dr. Isaacson know? What did he say? If you are only

having a hysteroscope and for minor scarring(and no laparoscopy) I

would think that you might be ok. The only problem would be if a

problem came up...I think, if it were me, just for my own piece of

mind and in order to fully enjoy Aruba, I would wait. Also you might

be starting hormones just after the surgery and those made me feel

sick to my stomach the first few days. Any just my two cents. (I

had a hysteroscopy with Dr. Isaacson but for major scarring)

Hi Silvana,

First, I want to welcome you to the Boston AS support group. I hope

we meet on Feb 20.

Second, I agree with in that what does Dr. Isaacson think?

Are you having an office or operative hysteroscopy? To share my

experience, I had an operative hysteroscopy at Brigham and Women's

hospital(I had general anethesia). My AS was diagnosed as moderate.

My surgery was on July 24 at 9:30am and 3 days later on July 27, I

left for a 3 week trip to Cambridge, England. I had asked my doctor

and she thought it was ok for me to go. She said generally any major

complications would surface within the couple days before I left.

There was a small chance of an infection, but she said go to the

emergency room and they would give me a prescription-I think it would

be an antibiotic of some kind. I asked her about restrictions and she

said not to have any weight (i.e. my 2.5 year old daughter on my lap)

or do much heavy lifting. I did not have a balloon (in my uterus) so

it was fine for me to do a post-op appointment, 3 weeks later when I

returned. For me, I was fine. My daughter and I walked all over

Cambridge. My husband was working so I did not really have the time

to take it easy with an active 2.5 year old daughter. I was taking

the hormones and had no reaction. I have to admit that I wanted my

surgery scheduled asap and did not want to wait until the end of

August. My decision was based on my doctor's advice. Talk to Dr.

Isaacson and do what you feel is best for you.

Hope this helps! If you have any more questions, please let me know.

When is your hysteroscopy?

Take care,
