However, armed with new info re adrenal dysfunction, I'm considering going home and trying to follow things up in London again. But it's a stupid system in London too (the whole Harley Street shuffle is so irritating). I have no idea how long it'll take to get any attention (I'm making enquiries). Absolutely. Chronic mercury poisoning (e.g. from amalgams) is very much a dormant condition. The mercury builds up slowly over time, you only ever notice minor symptoms. Then one day a major stressor comes along and bang - you are chronically ill. For me the trigger was EBV/Mono. But it could be anything - e.g. even surgery. The stressor is usually totally unrelated to mercury. Your description of an abdominal injury sounds pretty typical. If you haven't guessed it by now you are mercury poisoned - no ifs or buts. And adrenal function is directly affected by mercury. It is the only toxic metal that causes adrenal fatigue. Excessive startle-we got that too. Gets better with adrenal treatment. The burning tongue and metal taste leave when the fillings are out. All these symptoms were me before I had my fillings out. Get rid of your fillings if you still have them. I had another tell me that a little bit of mercury was ok, my body could handle it. I do wish you the best in finding answers with Hopkins but most major medical facilities in the U.S. are bought and paid for by U.S. Big Pharmaceuticals, which push the use of mercury laden vaccines. That's why I'm not persuing the mercury thing with Hopkins. Even if they believed it, they wouldn't know what to do about it. But the injury, the adrenal dysfunction, etc... that's something they should be interested in, particularly since it was their testing that proved unequivocally that I've got adrenal problems. You know the other thing EVERYONE refuses to look into (despite repeated asking)? Viral issues. Viruses are considered to be one of the big culprits in hearing loss. I also read that some US physicians who have themselves come down with mysterious CFS symptoms (and couldn't get better) have come up with a " stealth virus " theory and put themselves on Gancyclovir. They're getting better! Even though the " wisdom " is that anti-virals are of no use unless administered within a week or two of the infection starting up. Something I've considered is that maybe my adrenal disasters (which started a year and a half ago) messed up my immune system and let latent viral infections run riot (I know I have EBV, and apparently the majority of the population have CMV... which is renowned itself for causing adrenal problems in AIDS patients.) Anyone know about viral testing? Certainly been there, several times over. Many gastros in the UK are fans of using SSRIs for " functional disorders " of the colon (i.e. idiopathic constipation like mine). I was on Escitalopram for two months (didn't make a blind bit of difference). I mentioned this to the surgeon at Hopkins and he laughed out loud! So you might find some info/help over there. And my sister brought her son to someone who does EDS (electro dermal screening), and he found odd things that way.
