Guest guest
Welcome, Cary. I am sorry that you had to find us, but glad that you did. My ep was on October 24, 2000, and I also lost one tube and had surgery on the other. I was given the same grim prognosis as you were, but yet we have decided to try it and see if it can work as it sometimes does before moving on to more expensive methods. No matter what you decide, you will find support here. Take the time you have off from work to heal as much as you can. Maggie

Guest guest
Cary, I'm extremely sorry that you've had to experience the loss of a baby. You have found a group of very wonderfully caring people. I hope that we will be able to help you while you are finding your feelings. Don't be surprised if they change on a moment's notice from mad to sad to oh, anything else you can think of. It's very very normal. There are a couple women here that have just recently been through IVF (successfully!) so they should be able to provide you with some great insights on what you should expect. I think the amount that your insurance covers is great! Alot of them don't cover anything at all. Good luck with the wedding plans!! (there are a couple of other women planning weddings here too). Post whenever you want to and don't worry about how long it is, just say what you want to say. -AmyR
Guest guest
Hi Cary, Welcome to the group--I'm sorry to hear your story, but I'm so glad you found us. I think you'll find this group to be a tremendous source of support. It is for me. Your story sounds similar to mine in that on my first U/S they saw two sacs in my uterus. One week later, there were no sacs and then they saw the ep in my tube. From twins to nothing--uggh. I was treated with a drug called metho, which led to a whole different set of complications. I'm so sorry to hear you lost a tube, and that there was scarring evident. The good news is that there are women in this group that have no tubes, and they had very good luck with IVF. I guess, in an ironic sort of way, it is good that you know what you are dealing with. Although my ep was last September, I'm still in the state where I don't know what the heck is going on, but I'll be finding out soon. Feel free to ask us anything,

Guest guest
Cary I had an ep 8/99. I soon went to an RE who said I had tubal disease. I had lap surgery 6/00 to try and open my tubes. We did a couple of IUI's w/meds that was unsuccessful. In 01/01 we did our first IVF. It was successfull. My IVF was all out of pocket except meds. The meds can be expensive depending how much you need. Mine was about $3000.00- $4,000.00. just did IVF and she was on double the meds I was on so hers was more. I order mine through a fertility drug store that my RE office uses. They are a little cheaper than if you order them through a regular pharmacy. Guest guest
Cary, I'm so sorry for your loss. You sound like you have a great guy who's very supportive, and a very sweet little boy. I had lap surgery on 12/7/00 and had both tubes removed (right damaged from the pregnancy, left disformed due to DES exposure). We started IVF late January, and last week I found out that I am pregnant. I know it seems like a lifetime from now, but you can be pregnant just as easily. As my doctor says, you don't need fallopian tubes to have a baby! If you need to talk, you can email me directly marriaaa@... {{{{ hugs }}} maria

Guest guest
Cary Welcome to the group. I found this wonderful place not long ago myself and it has helped me a great deal. I found out I was pg (our 1st try) in the beginning of Nov. by the beginning of Dec. I was dx with having a ep and my dr gave me metho inj. after she did the 1st b/w to check the stat I ended up in the ER one night, it had ruptured and I needed my rt tube removed! It was so hard to comprehend because it all happened so fast, but you know that. I have had problems with my bladder ever since the surgery, went to several dr and I think I finally found a urologist who is helping me. (crossing my fingers) He said sometimes after a rupture there is alot of blood in the abd that has no place to go until it gets reabsorbed back into the body and it can put pressure on the bladder and make one feel like they have to go allll the time!! (haven't heard anyone else having this problem after ep, I guess I was just lucky! lol!) Now I am waiting to hopefully finally schedule my hsg soon. Anyway, it has been really hard to get ahold of my feeling sometimes. I would be ok one minute and than feel angry, mad, sad...and seeing other pg people and babies well, I am still trying to work through that. I think finding this caring women has been the best thing for me! My dh, family and friend all have been supportive but they just don't understand! Many seem to think that since it was " awhile " ago that I have moved on. They don't seem to really understand that I lost our baby. I am sorry for your loss and I hope you will find comfort and some helpful knowledge here. Like I said these women are very supportive and there are some amazing stories here. I am very slowly, finding out that there is hope after an ep through these great people. I am glad your dp is supportive. I know it is must be hard to put your heart into planning the wedding, but I hope you try to enjoy. (sorry, sometimes I get carried away typing) --- Cary wrote: __________________________________________________

Guest guest
Welcome to the group Cary! I'm sorry you had to find us, but you couldn't find a more supportive group of women. IVF has had some great successes around here and it sounds like you have a very supportive soon-to-be dh to help you make those decsisions. In the meantime, if you need to talk about any of the emotions that go with an ep, just post - there's always someone around here who knows exactly how you're feeling. Good luck to you. Guest guest
Hi Cary, I am very sorry for your loss, but am very happy you found this group. I had surgery for my EP on Jan. 4, and I, too joined the group a week after. The girls have been a tremendous help to me in the last 9 or so weeks, and while I am not completely healed emotionally, I do owe a lot of where I am now to the group. Unfortunately, things will continue to sink in and you will have plenty of time to think about your future options in the next few weeks. Don't hesitate to bring up any questions to the group to help you along the way, and if you need to vent to us, believe me - the girls are great at helping with that too! I had a great time planning my wedding, which will be a year ago next month, and I wish you and your fiance the best. Jen
