Guest guest Posted October 18, 2005 Report Posted October 18, 2005 , Hers is the folder with just the top of the head shot, right? Since I can only see one ear I would assume to believe that she has ear asymmetry. You've already gone through casting so I'd really recommend you getting the band. I think youll be surprised at how easily she'll adjust. My 9.5 yo got hers 3.5 weeks ago and is doing and looking great! Since the band is already in the process of being made I'd really recommend you go ahead and get it. I think at this point you'd only regret not getting it. Hindsight is always 20/20. Let us know what you decide to do! Guest guest Posted October 18, 2005 Report Posted October 18, 2005 , It is very common for you to be having last minute jitters. You get them with important decisions and what could be more important than your baby girl? I would trust the measurements that CT came up with, I am not saying anything against your pt, but this is what CT does. The picture is taken from an angle that does not really allow for a great opinion, but even in it I can see the asymmetry, so my guess would be that CT's numbers are right. Going by 10mm of asymmetry and the addition of tort into the equation I would do the band. Ct begins banding babies at 5mm, so even if you say, it is somewhere between 5mm and 10mm, she is a candidate, especially with the tort. If you put the length of time in a band(8-10 weeks) into the whole span of her life, it is a very little to do with a lifetime of rewards. So that's my opinion, let us know what you decide, CAROLG --- In Plagiocephaly , " naptime900 " <naptime900@y...> wrote: > > Hi all, > > I am having last minute jitters about having my daughter fitted for a > doc band. Guest guest Posted October 18, 2005 Report Posted October 18, 2005 , I think it's very normal to have last minute jitters. I had them as well before we got our DOCband even up to the day of! It's not an easy decision to make, but when you finally get it on her you'll be relived that you did! I saw her picture if it was a top of the head shot, and I do see the Plagio. It's good that she won't need to wear it very long and I think you'll be very happy with the results once you're done! I would recommend you to go ahead since she's been casted and everything! Good luck! Guest guest Posted October 18, 2005 Report Posted October 18, 2005 Hi , I can't see Olivia's face but I can tell she's a cutie! I sympathize with your unneasiness. My son Noah is 7 mos. and we have chosen repositioning instead of a band (don't even know if he would qualify) since he is very mild and has shown improvement already (pics are posted), so I am not biased towards the band or anything. But, I think Olivia needs the band. The bulging on her left is enough to obstruct the view of her ear. And, I think facial assymetry can sometimes be more worrisome than the misshapen head. Especially since you have done the casting already - it seems the worst part of the process is over and the rest of it will be over before you know it. Did you try repositioning in the past? If so, you can be confident you did everything on your own that you could and any more repo progress would probably be minimal at her age now. Just my opinion. Guest guest Posted October 18, 2005 Report Posted October 18, 2005 I think we all tend to second, third and even quadruple guess ourselves Its what parents do! WORRY! I am still wondering if I made the right choice and Leah has been in the DOCband a week now. You are right in that you should go by more of what you see then by measurements. Just try to think of it like this. Olivia is young and this is treatable now. Should you decide not to treat will you possibly regret it later or wonder what if? CT thinks she is a candidate and you saw enough that you sought a consult. I think you pretty much know your decision Now it seems, you are just worrying like parents do. I am not an expert but by looking at the picture I do see her plagio and asymmetry. It isnt the best angle, but It appears her back right has flattening and has caused the right side of her forhead to protrude outward/forward slightly more then the left (forehead asymmetry). This is just what I see. Only you can make the decision for your child. You have to do what you feel comfortable with. We are here to support whatever decision you make I wish you much luck. 6+ mo (Leah) brachy/plagio & tort DOCband baby as of 10/10/05 from New York --- In Plagiocephaly , " naptime900 " <naptime900@y...> wrote: > > Hi all, > > I am having last minute jitters about having my daughter fitted for a > doc band. Guest guest Posted October 18, 2005 Report Posted October 18, 2005 Hi , I agree w/what has told you. Look at it this way, if you don't do it you may regret it in the future. Guest guest Posted October 18, 2005 Report Posted October 18, 2005 Banding is such a tough decision b/c we don't want to do anything that would hurt them - but I think your mom is right - it's not evasive - it actually helps protect them a little and most of them adjust quickly to the band!! The decision is obviously ultimately yours and you'll find lots of support here whatever you decide - but I personally and I think most parents who have banded have not regretted their decision later. toral mom to dillon, doc band grad 9/28/05 still working on tort, almost resolved > > > > > > Hi all, > > > > > > I am having last minute jitters about having my daughter fitted > for > > a > > > doc band.
