JOB ANNOUNCEMENT

The Alamo Heights Fire & EMS Department is accepting employment applications for

Fire Fighter/Medics.

The applicant obtains and submits an application for employment to the City of

Alamo Heights Fire Department at 6116 Broadway, Alamo Heights, TX 78209. The

applications may be hand delivered, mailed, or faxed. For further information,

please call the Alamo Heights Fire Department at .

* Applications will be accepted through 5:00 PM Friday, January 14, 2005.

* Applicants must successfully pass the written exam and physical ability test,

which is a basic firefighter and EMS aptitude test. The written exam will be

given on Friday, January 21, 2005 at 6:30 PM. The physical ability test will be

on Saturday, January 22, 2004 to the applicants having completed the application

process and successfully passed the written exam.

* Those who eligible will be scheduled for an oral interview on Thursday,

January 27, 2005 thru Friday January 28, 2005. (AHFD will schedule the date and

time of the oral interview) Applicant background investigations will begin on

these dates.

* The final candidate(s) will be called for a Chief's interview and will be

required to take a physical examination with drug screening.

Note: Candidates must pass each assessment prior to progressing to the next

evaluation segment.

Only individuals meeting the certification standards for Structural Fire

Protection Personnel as prescribed by the Texas Commission On Fire Protection,

carrying a minimum certification as an Emergency Medical Technician as

prescribed by the Texas Department of Health, and having the ability to be

covered under the city's vehicle insurance policy will be considered for

employment. Candidates holding Paramedic certification are preferred, and all

candidates with lesser medical certifications must be willing and able to

upgrade to Paramedic.

Employee Pay and Benefits:

Base Salary (FF Candidate) - $31,357

Longevity - $3.00 /month/year

Education/Certification Incentive - EMT

$500 /year

EMT Intermediate

$780 /year

Paramedic

$2080 /year

FF Intermediate Cert. OR Assoc. Degree $600 /year

FF Advanced Cert. OR Bachelor Degree $900 /year

FF Master Cert. OR Masters Degree $1,200 /year

Empolyee Health/Life Insurance - City Paid

TMRS Retirement System - 5% - City Matched 1 ½ x.

Long Term Disability Insurance After One Year

Holidays - 9 paid /year

Vacation - 2 weeks after one year

Sick Leave - 8 hrs. /month

Base Salary (Firefighter) after one year probation - $34,680
