Hi Kristy,

First, congratulations on your upcoming nuptials! What an exciting time of

life. What a blessing too that your soon to be husband knows what to expect if

you progress to end stage. He must be a great guy..(Amy, better watch out,

your husband may have some competition for greatest husband!)

I had two successful pregnancies early in my IgAN that resulted in two

healthy girls. They are both grown now in their 20s, and neither of them have

any

sign of kidney trouble.

The only problems I had were high BP and pretty severe edema, but I made it

through both times to full term normal deliveries.

I wish you all the best in your marriage!

Hi Kristy,

Well your fiancé has some handy experience...always good to have a

dialysis nurse about. :o) I'm happy to hear you are in the early stages of

this disease. There are quite a few women here who have had healthy babies

post diagnosis. I had both of mine prior to being hit with IgAN. You will

be considered a high risk pregnancy so my advice is discuss it with your

neph AND with your OB prior to getting pregnant. They both will be able to

give you pros and cons and this way your OB is alerted to the risks prior to

you walking in their office and saying " I'm pregnant now what? " If your OB

isn't familiar with any problems your IgAN may cause during pregnancy this

will give them a chance to get educated or give you a chance to find a new

OB before you absolutely need one. Healthy babies can be a possibility if

your doctors don't feel it will cause major problems with you.

LOL!! Oh I'll have to let him know there is good competition out there...it

gives him incentive to do more. Though he has been moving the 25 tons of

dirt on his own not letting me help. :o)
