Ok, you want your thyroid to be stimulated to produce more thyroid hormone (TSH going up)??? And you want your thyroid hormones to go UP, evidently??? This is strange, considering the fact that PTU is made to BLOCK the thyroid hormones, not to encourage their production, which is exactly what TSH stimulation is going to do! Am I not understanding what is going on with your thyroid?????????? What IS going on here, and what are you and the doctor trying to accomplish here? With HYPERthyroidism, you would want the production of thyroid hormone to go DOWN, not up, which would mean that you wouldn't want the TSH stimulating the thyroid to produce more hormone. Not understanding here.

TSH is a thyroid stimulating hormone..not an actual Thyroid hormone so by the TSH increasing it is signalling not enough hormone in the system. My free's did not change though which means my body either adjusted back really quickly to the level before PTU and the TSH is lagging behind to when I first started PTU's or my body thinks it should be hyper.. I am not sure what is going on with my Thyroid either..nor are the docs..antibody tests show neg or low..ultrasound shows an enlarged diffuse goiter, no nodules..WBC count came back high..but the break down of different cells shows only the WBC responsible for inflammation is high.. Platelet count came back high also which my doc figures is my body trying to heal the damage caused by inflammation. My sympotms are messed too as one of my main symptoms is pain..my neck really hurts, a few times a day I will get sharp pains in my neck, where it is hard to function. My symptoms are not consistant but I do get the shakes, and have a hard time sleeping and way too hot..although some days I am fine.. We have been watching symptoms, tests etc..but my blood pressure is fine and my resting heart rate is around 90-95..so the doc figured the PTU would give the thyroid a rest.. The PTU did get rid of most symptoms, and it lowered my platelet and WBC back down to normal and got rid of the pain in the neck..although not a noticeable difference in swelling I could notice it under my chin, front of the neck going down, release on the facial pressure..now that has all come back.. So for now I ma waiting 4 more weks and redoing blood work and my doc has three endo's lined up for me depending on what results the next bloodwork show. Hope this make a bit more sense to you..and if anybody understands this please fill me in..
