I'm not a good converter, that's most likely why I did so poorly on synthetic T4. Right now my best dosing... how do I say this... I know what I mean in my head.... hehehehehe

A good many, most?? folks do great with one dose of meds a day, usually in the morning.. then are the ones that take two doses, one in the morning and one in the mid afternoon... I'm talking about those that are taking natural, synthetic T4 needs to be taken on an empty stomach so that's much hard to multi-dose.... anyway.. some folks can dose twice a day... Now there is me.... I recently tried to cut back to taking my daily amount in four doses per day and was falling asleep before my next dose was due. I kept at if for four days and was getting badly teased about yawning so big that my face was gonna crack...

Well... it was about 10 this morning when I started yawning... I'm back to dosing 6 times a day and I couldn't figure out why I was soooo tired. Ruth was teasing me about yawning so big again.... well I refused to go to sleep and felt a little bit better after I had my next mini meal... come noon I headed to get my noon dose and low and behold, even though I was positive that I'd taken my 9 am dose, it was still in my pill box... so here I was, on a day when I wasn't even remotely thinking about extended time between doses and how it would affect me... I found that I still can't go much past the magical four hour mark...

I don't do goitrogens except for occasional treats (holidays, mostly) of a sweet and sour red cabbage recipe... sometimes have soda as a treat and the only soy that I do is in my salad dressing and peanut butter, neither of which I use a lot of.... I have a total daily intake of 400 mcg of selenium and take natural thyroid (which contains T4, T3, T2, T1 and calcitonin) sublingually (under the tongue) and I still can't seem to kick up my conversion rate long enough to last much more than the magical 4 hour point....

Sigh... as I've said many times before... I'd still rather multi-dose to feel this much better than I did than to go back to taking it all in one dose and feel as rotten as I used to...

It's all a matter of figuring out what is best for your body.... how much you need total, if synthetic or natural works best for you, how to dose it. Then there are the supplements that your body needs, how to adjust what and when you eat... it's kinda complicated, it involves changes and compromises... but if you can figure out the combination that works best for you... well, the prize is worth it....

you get to feel better.... Live again....

Wow, that was pretty informative. Thanks Topper. I've been trying to change my diet but it's difficult to care sometimes when your world is fuzzy. I've been going back and forth on what I feel i need to be changing hormone-wise. I suppose it wouldn't be possible that my body is unable to convert T4 to enough T3 indefinitely, would it? Would anyone out there happen to be having similar problems? Maybe those who have had a thyroidectomy? I feel like I wasn't properly prepared for all of this. My endo is a total idiot. I'll definitely take your advice on the supplement though, that seems to sound the best to me. Thanks again! -vanessa
