Guest guest
Is there any connection between being on prednisone and being susceptible to yeast infections? I ask because I've had a horrid white coating with sorness in my mouth on and off since being on the stuff and now an on going feminine yeast problem for the past few months that doesn't seem to be responding to my normal coursre of treatment for such things. Any one else out there have yeast problems and what have you found that works for them. Thanks Amy
Guest guest
HI Amy, I am sorry I knew you didn't do dairy but had a " mature moment " and it slipped my mind when I wrote. The tablets are just as good. Don't worry about the slip and falls...as long as you keep getting up again :-) It IS hard to resist all those delicious summer fruits..oh to have no potassium restrictions! This time of the year I hate my dietary restrictions more than any other time. Peaches, nectarines, cherries, apricots...all so yummy and so high in potassium! Guest guest
Amy, I had this problem when I was on prednisone as well. My throat started getting really sore and I was having the same feminine problems. My doctor told me that my sore throat was from a " yeast infection " in my mouth and throat. The more technical term for the sore throat was called thrush. She put me on medicine that I swished and swallowed for a week and it cleared up my mouth and also gave me pills to clear up the " other " yeast infection. Guest guest
Hi Amy, Thanks for a delicious sounding recipe. I will have to pick up some canned pears and peach nectar next time I do the shopping and try this. It sounds very refreshing! Guest guest
Thanks Janelle. I thought there was something they could give me like a mouthwash and I knew there were pills I could take for the feminine part...but since I have had some severe reactions to quite a few drugs in recent months my GP wants me to increase my acidophilus intake and check with my herbalist to find the max dose for renal patients of the herbal stuff I take. Since it's just itchy and a bit sore she asked if I could rough it out until I get back from vacation in a few weeks then if it's not cleared up and I want to try the Rx stuff she will give it to me. She didn't want me to have a reaction right before we leave....I had to agree with her. Since the yeast infection stuff isn't doing any damage, it's just bothersome, she didn't see any reason to rush it.
