I've also experienced strange tastes/smells on certain medications. Like I try to keep mints or gum handy and brush my teeth often. However, I could have sworn my fingertips had a bit of a urine-like odour in the few months leading up to dialysis, and, strangely, my leather watch band definitely smelled like urine. As I've mentioned in my previous e-mail I also notice in my breath difference in smell and myself the urine scent(?????) shame, shame, shame. I did complained it to the doctor and he says everything will slowly disappear once I started dialysis. Since my donor is still on going my neph advise me to start the dialysis as my creatine level goes to 6/mg/dl. Paralel to that I'm on the waiting list as well. My nephrologist had prepared everything so that when the donor comes the final examination will be done before the transplantation(crossing my finger hope everything is okey) As of now my legs are always trembling everytime my phone rings. Plus, I lost the greyish skin complexion I had had for a couple of years, and I look like my old self again... and at 51 now, I DO mean old Another thing that comes back is appetite. I'm sorry to hear that you've reached the point where it's time to start dialysis, and that you couldn't get the transplant before, but in a way, I'm also glad to hear that your nephrologist is starting you. I worry more about the people who delay dialysis. You'll see, you will feel much better... but give it a few weeks. It takes a while for the body to get back to normal after years of chronic renal failure. Good luck with the transplant. I hope it gets done soon. This should serve as an example to others about the lead time I always warn about. It can take quite a while to complete the evaluation for the recipient first, and then the potential donor or donors. Some people get lucky and everything happens quickly, but that's the exception to the rule.
