Dear Gaby,

You are exactly where I was when I was diagnosed. 12 out of 17 glomeruli

were completely dead (basically) and the remaining 5 were severely scarred

and not working properly. And I have between 30 and 35% functioning left.

I'm glad your doctor has been so proactive and already started you on the

Procrit. As far as your biopsy goes, I think it mostly means that your

remaining glomeruli are inflamed and scarred. That's it in a nutshell, and

it sounds like they are probably gonna go ahead and diagnose you with IgA

nephropathy. I'm glad you're with this group, but I'm sorry that you have

the same problem many of us have. When is your next appt. with your kidney

doctor?

!!!!!!!!!! And Everyone!

I passed the exam!!!!! But you know? My BP was 115 / 77 before the

exam and 15 minutes after I finished TOEFL, BP was 145/95.

Could be that my BP raises when I am nervous. I know that that is

very common but ... Is it too much difference?

Changing subject, yesterday I saw my neph. He just gave me a shot of

Procrit and some lab to do (CBC w/ Alito Diff and Comp. Metabolic

(Alb, T, Bill, Ca. CO2, Creat, Cl, Alk Phos Glu, Phos, K, Protein,

Sod, AST, BUN))

Also gave me my biopsy results and I am so scared. 36 glomeruli (56

was the total in my sample) are globally obsolete. None of the

remainder are normal either. That means that 65% are obsolete and

the remainder are not healthy.

So what will happen w/ me?

My diagnosis is the following,

1. Focal predominantly sclerosing and mildly proliferative

glomerulonephritis w/ organized and occasional epithelial crescents,

considered consistent w/ IgA Nephropathy in view if the

inmunofluorescence findings.

2. Chronic active tubulointersticial nephritis - Clinical

Asociation, Nonsteroidal anti-inflamatory drug use; cannot rule-out

superimposed pyelonephritis.

3. Moderate arterial sclerosis and moderately severe concentric

arteriolar thickening - Clinical Association Hypertension

Someone knows what that means? My neph didn't explain it to me. :o(

I am sending hugs for all of you.

Pierre in little time you will find the kidney. I am sure! Kisses.

Gaby

PS: I forgot to tell you, yesterday I also took my iron therapy,

before that my H/H improved. It was 11.20 / 37.30
