Hello all-

I was just wondering if anyone had any thoughts on how to get your

family to get tested. I am the first one in my family to be

diagnosed and I keep hinting and suggesting but with no avail. I

really think it comes from my dad's side of the family. My grandma

passed away way too early because she first had colon cancer and

then later developed pancreatic cancer. Looking back, she always

had stomach problems. Then there's my aunt. She is constantly

having trouble and she limits herself from so many things that she

thinks is upsetting her stomach. She has one child and had tons of

infertility issues so they weren't able to have anymore, but they

could never figure out what was going on that she was having those

problems. She has been to the doctor tons of times and gets put on

several different medications for IBS, but gets little relief. I

have spoken with her at long length about how she feels and

everything I have gone through, but still she won't get tested. She

hasn't even mentioned to her doctor that I have celiac. She told me

she doesn't want to be tested. She could never live like I do, but

yet she is already so limited to what she eats. She would rather

not know and just live with thinking that it's probably just IBS. I

just got married two months ago and she wouldn't even come to my

rehearsal dinner. She went home with a bad " gut ache " as she always

calls it and wanted to go and eat her prunes and go to bed. Is that

living? Anyway, I don't know how to reiterate to everyone what a

big deal this is. Wouldn't you want to know rather than not. It's

much better for me to deal with what I know than what I don't. So,

if anyone has any suggestions I would be more than happy to hear

them. Thanks and have a great Monday!!

Rhiannon
