She doesnt care too much yet. But she is only 6 months. I think it is 9 months

when they start to really have stranger anxiety and such. And most people dont

come up to her. But the few that have sometimes get a smile. Well maybe most

that do get a smile. But she doesnt coo back. And they dont really coo to her,

they just talk to her.

Jacquie, how does she react to strangers at the grocery store and out

in public? Do they try to coo and talk to her? How does she respond?

See Jake never smiled at strangers. He would interact with us and a

few people he knew (grandma, etc) but when people would talk to him,

baby talk and tickle him or whatever, he just looked plain annoyed.

Even at 6 mos. I was constantly telling people - " Don't take it

personally, this is the most anti-social baby in the world " . (I

didn't know)

It might be an interesting test to ask someone you know who Yessenia

doesn't know, to try to talk baby talk to her and engage her. Smile

really big, try to play with her. I wish I was close enough to do

that. I love to do this with babies! :D

Also, have you tried letting her look at herself in the mirror? Does

she like to do that at all? If she does, I would think that would be

a big sign of " NT-ness " . LOL... I had one of those baby mirrors Jake

could crawl up to and look at himself. But he wasn't interested now

that I think back about it. I can't really remember him doing that.

But now on the other hand at 3 1/2 ... he is enjoying looking at

himself in the mirror and making faces at himself. :-)

Jacquie,

I think she's much too young to worry about it!

I know there are doctors who say they can see signs of autism in very young

children, but I don't know what those signs are. I never saw them in Boone

at that age.

Well, he was attracted to ceiling fans but I thought that he thought they

were giant mobiles and he LOVED his mobile.

If I find an article I'll send it to you.

This is a good idea. But I think I must have already done that. The nurses at

the dr office can get her to even laugh. She just doesnt seem to have good eye

contact with me. Hmmmmmm...Jeff says she seems fine. Maybe she doesnt like to

hold " my " gaze very long. I dont know. She isnt too interested in the mirror for

the most part. Alec loved anbd still does looking in the morror. So did

Greggory. Hmmmm.....
