Guest guest
, Why doesn't this surprise me one bit? You did something YOU wanted to do, then some! Way to go! Enjoy the pain babe! I too got a tattoo....NEVER again! I'm a big whimp! I passed out BANG...right on the damn floor, and mine is just a tiny little rose! I could NEVER imagine having something all the way around my arm or leg! I'm petrified, and scarred for life! Dawn Weight Loss Breeds Spontaneity Yesterday afternoon I was pretty bored so I started thinking about what I want to do in the future when I lose all my excess weight. One thing I have always wanted to do is to become a tattoo artist. Now, I didn't have any tattoos. I was looking around on the web yesterday at tattoo shops in RI around where I used to live...And out of the blue decided " Damnit, I want a tattoo " . How can I ever hope to become a tattoo artist when I haven't even experienced it myself. So as soon as got home I grabbed her and we headed to a little shop in Middletown that I had been in before. It was about 9pm when we got there. and I decided to get matching 'bands'. Mine is around my forearm and hers is around her bicep. It ended up we were the last two people there and we got started at 10:30. The owner closed the shop and left at Midnight and we were there with the tattoo artist <A really nice guy> and a couple of his friends. We were just hanging out in this closed tattoo shop getting inked till 5:30 in the morning. Hehe...I also got my eyebrow pierced. These are things I've wanted to do for years but my weight and issues with being in public really prevented it. But aparantly I'm getting over my issues. Life is great. I'm down 73 pounds now at almost 7 weeks out. Unfortunately I can't go swimming for 2 weeks because I can't go in chlorinated water. Blah! Guest guest
This was actually my second. I have a celtic knotwork band around my left ankle. That was nothing compared to the huge band around my upper arm. I thought I was going to pass out from the pain when he was tattooing about an inch from my armpit. I'm still all swollen from the skin trauma. I figure by the time the swelling goes down, I should be starting to scab up and get crusty. I should have a decent looking tattoo in about a month It was 's first, and I had to laugh when he first started getting it done. He got all cocky and said " oh, this isn't so bad. " 2 hours later, he was singing a different tune *giggle* -- S Re: Weight Loss Breeds Spontaneity Congrats on your (and 's) first tattoos! Then I got another and this weekend when me and my family go away my sister and I are getting matching tattoos. (chinese symbol for sisters) Piercings can be addictive too so watch out! First I did my eyebrow then I did my tongue. : ) Enjoy your reward, you deserve it. Cheryl L.

Guest guest
Sure Lyssa! But it won't be for about 2 weeks. My brother took the digital camera with him on 'vacation' so I can't do it until he gets back. The piercing experience there was great. The piercer works during the day as a surgical tech so he assists in surgeries at Newport Hospital. He was a really great guy. We sat and talked for awhile. When I first got there I was thinking about getting my septum pierced but commented to the mask might irritate it and he said " You have a cpap machine? " What?? Hehe...That's how we found out he was in the medical field. It hurt a little but not bad at all. A little more than getting your ear pierced but very similar. I love it though. I must say I look very cute with my new piercing and tattoo. Heh. I guess I'm just happy to be able to do these things I've let my weight prevent me from doing all these years. If I didn't have all these damn issues I would have had this done years ago. I'm sure this is just the beginning too. *grin* -- RE: Weight Loss Breeds Spontaneity can you take a pic of your tattoos? Would love to see them. How was the piercing experience? Congrats on your continued weight loss. Lyssa

Guest guest
Thanks I'm hoping that I can somehow get an apprenticeship at the place I got mine done and in a year or so be tattooing myself. So maybe next year I'll be in a position where you can get one from me. Hehe. -- Re: Weight Loss Breeds Spontaneity Dear and , Congrats on joining the ranks of the illustrated. I remember when I got my leg band 4 years ago and the print wouldn't make it all the way around my ankle so he freelanced the last inch and a half and I swear it's the best part of my tattoo. Main Street Hyannis just got a tattoo parlor and I was in there looking around at the designs last weekend. I'm thinking about a sexy reward for next summer. These things are addictive YIKES! WTG on the weightloss you are an inspiration to me. C ........from the Cape Dr. Thayer NWH 8/9/

Guest guest
I need to make more friends in the tattoo industry. Hehe....It's really the only way to get into it. -- Re: Weight Loss Breeds Spontaneity - There is a new tatoo/piercing shop on Commercial Street in Provincetown, too. I'd probably be a little nervous about this...but I personally know the guy that is running it, and he does absolutely AWESOME work. His mother is an EMT on our Squad. The girl that is working with him is also an excellent tatoo-er (is that a word????).
