Guest guest
The worst weather this New Year's Eve will be in the Northwest where a big storm will be swirling in from the Pacific. Western Washington, western Oregon and northern California will have soaking rain while heavy snow falls in the mountains. The storm along the East Coast will take another day to get going, and even then it will impact only northern New England. So in general, any snow that falls in the Northeast this New Year's Eve will be light. New Year's Day will feature a heavy snow event evolving across northern New England while bitter cold blasts southeastward through the Great Lakes. The cold flow will set up the familiar lake-effect snow bands in Michigan, western New York and northwestern Pennsylvania. The Northwest will have to endure another day of stormy weather, while the Southwest starts the New Year on a favorable note. Story By AccuWeather.com Senior Meteorologist Kocet.
