Guest guest
This describes my husband, more or less. I am the one apt at quoting everything from Trek to any book I read (I have a photographic memory I am afraid). Chris's short term memory is pretty much gone due to a side effect of his thyroid problems. However...a couple weeks ago he rattled off to me this huge project he had to do at work, what he had to do to get it done, all the parts he needed, and verbally threw all the math at me for it as it applied to the project (he has one of those techno-geek jobs in satellite communications). This was sitting in his mind for I don't know how long and the man can not remember to bring eggs, milk and diapers and toliet paper home on his way to work. I guarentee you he will always forget something and bring home ice cream or root beer or something just as absurd in it's place. In the 11 years that we have been together I have learned to live with this. I have learned to live with all of his quarks. His mother tells me she wouldn't put up with half of it. The thing is, I have always accepted as he is, without those quarks he wouldn't be Chris. LOL! He has absolutly no socail skills. He is also totaly clueless. We sat down one day and talked about how he had no dates in school and in college and and all and it turns out that the man really does not know when someone is flirting with him. I have no idea how he made it left to his own devices. Georga Hackworth Enter to win $50 worth of free books www.ubah.com/F1549 I think my hubby has asperger's I'm not kidding. He has very low social skills (I get really nervous around alot of people he says) He has the bible memorized, as well as every star trek, lord of the rings book, anything science fiction, can build computers from scratch, and has like a photographic memory. However, he can't remember what I said to him 3 seconds ago. He read at the age of 2, and is a very introverted person, unless he's with people he knows. When he talks to me or watches tv he never moves his head, and I swear upon my holy computer he never blinks. He only responds to " geek humor, " and doesn't understand why I think SNL is so funny. He's a great guy, and I take alot of credit in helping him become less wierd. LOL. But after reading this stuff, it really makes me wonder. Which has as well, but do not make him act oddly. I'm really sorry, I tried, but I couldn't help it!!! Many of us think we or someone we love is on the spectrum, and there is definitely a genetic componant to autism in many cases. So it's entirely possible. Somewhere there is an " AQ test " to determine your " autism quotient " as an adult -- how autistic you are. Maybe will post it for you. -Sara the Alleged Aspie. Guest guest
LOL Sara, you are so wild! Yeah, I'm the bipoler one. Sigh, and we've already played the blame game almost a year ago. he said " you're a fucking psycho, " and i said " well, you're just fucking wierd " and my oldest son (who we thought was asleep) runs down the stairs and asks what fucking means......shew boy, I'm glad the blame game is over for us, because it isn't much fun....... :-( Anyways, I won't get into the story of how we almost got a divorce going thru all of this. Let me just say (as I'm sure most of you know) it wasn't much fun......
