Guest guest
I don't have swelling on my tongue but I do have fissures on my tongue. That is like little indentations in your tongue. However I do have a problem with the tip of my tongue. There are days that I cannot eat much of anything as it hurts the tip of my tongue. I have to see my dentist later this month and I am going to talk to him about this. Take care, Irene co-moderator > Does anyone's tongue periodically swell??? Guest guest
Does anyone's tongue periodically swell??? Ever since my major flare, my tongue must be swelling because I go through periods where I get a raw spot on my tongue. Its' *always* in the exact same location. It stays like that, really irritating me for a few weeks, and then goes away, only to come back again. There are a couple of spots on my teeth that it could be rubbing against. I'm now starting to think it's doing it on another spot on the other side. Darcy
Guest guest
(Jumping up and down and shouting " Me, me! " ) Darcy...going thru that even as we speak. I can barely talk, and this has been going on 4 over 3 months! The doctor says it's Thrush, sort of a " yeast infection " of the mouth He's been blaming it on my diabetes, but my blood sugar's have not been high enough to warrant this. Do you also have whitish areas on the top and sides of your tongue? Here it is that the Effexor has just lowered the level of my constant body pain, and this stupid thing pops up. GRRRRRR! But thanks for letting me know that someone else is as miserable with their mouth as I am. Are you taking any medicine for it? I know on the one group I'm on, they just finished a thread about thrush. They said that there is pills and liquid that can help. Guest guest
Darcy: Nystatin Oral Suspension...helped only to a point then seemed to make it worse! Guest guest
To all interested sore mouth sufferers....My doc has me mix children's cherry liquid benadryl with equal amounts of liquid mylanta and GARGLE do not swallow but get deep into the throat. I know it sounds gross but, it provides a numbing healing feeling and saves many an awful moment.. Good luck,, Kathy a lurker --- Darcy Stockstill wrote: > > > Jeane wrote: > > Do you also > > have whitish areas on the top and sides of your > tongue? Well, after more careful analysis of my tongue pain, I realized I had four sore spots, 3 along the sides and one more towards the middle. DH suggested keeping a log to see if I could see any kind of pattern. I don't think there is the need for that any longer. I woke up in the middle of the night, and my mouth was incredibly dry, so that my tongue wasn't moving, and in the course of trying to move my tongue, I could actually feel me biting my tongue (and the bleeding) along the edge. My guess it this is what is happening all of the time. I guess this is something to mention to the doctor this week. Darcy
