Guest guest
Hi y, IgA is a normal part of the immune complex that everybody has. For those with IgAN (IgA Nephropathy, also called Berger's disease) this immune complex gets deposited in the kidneys and causes damage to the kidneys. That is why IgA can only definitively be diagnosed with a biopsy. It is necessary to actually look at the kidney tissue and see if there are deposits which have caused damage and scarring. Guest guest
Hi y, IgA is an immunoglobulin. Everyone has IgA. Generally, IgA circulates in the blood stream. When IgA gets deposited in the kidneys, it causes a disease called IgAN - which stands for IgA nephropathy. Cy what does it stand for? > I have a lot of people ask me, what does Iga stand for?
