OT--Urgent Prayer Request

They just took my father to the hospital. He has been sick for almost 3

wks. Right now he can't breath and his heart rate is real high.

Please pray.

Wanted to let everyone know that my Dad is in ICU with congestive heart

failure. I was worried because he has had bronchitis and the doctor has

messed around for almost one month. Now, I wonder if that is what it was or

the congestive heart failure. He has blood clots like I do and is on

coumadin. His blood is really thin, maybe they called it PTs (not sure). I

will find out, because I have questions. I wonder if they are giving him

too much coumadin or is it from being sick. We no longer have a heart

doctor at the hospital he is in. Someone that knows the family and was in

the ER when my Dad went it, told us to " Get him the hell out of this

hospital and somewhere else! " Well, the doctor won't transfer him and

everything is in the Step-Mothers hands. So what can we do, but go by her

judgement. My sister likes the doctor she used to work for him, but I am

not sure. When he had a clot the last time I wanted him to see a vascular

dr. His GP said my Dad wasn't a candidate for screens and that he could

deal with this. My Dad was up at 3 a.m. he said it was like walking on

sponges, she waited until 9 a.m. to call the doctors office, they live 5

mins. from the hospital, he was admitted at 9:50 a.m. His doctor wasn't

happy on her dragging her feet, who knows if she talked to him about a

transfer. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Hi Debbie

I pray that you dad is stabilized now and out of danger. I'm sure that the

clotting factor in our blood is affected

when we are sick. So I hope they take regular blood test to check it and adjust

his meds accordingly. When Dylan was

sick recently his blood clotting factor was out of whack - too low - and the Drs

said it was because or the virus.

All the best with the hospital - all you can do is pray, ask questions and

support your Dad and each other.

We will keep you in our prayers.

Hi Debbie,

They probably removed him from the lasix because it is very hard on the

kidneys...so to give them a break, even for 24 hours is not really a bad

thing.

Think about trying this with the doctor...you, and hopefully the rest of

your family, meet with him privately and tell him right up front, that you

are NOT comfortable with him not being under the care of a cardiologist,

that you would like his co-operation in getting him transferred to a

hospital with a cardiologist...also tell him, should he not comply with the

families wishes you will all hold him personally responsible for any failing

in your dads health. He will understand that this means you will file a law

suit and sue the pants off of him if he doesn't comply.

I am not a big sue-happy person, but desperate times call for desperate

measure. I hope your step-mom and sister will stand behind you in this and

let you do the talking. You have enough knowledge and experience to not be

intimidated by this man, and I have all the faith in the world that you will

get all the points necessary into his little bitty brain. Make sure you

have a doctor and hospital lined up.

You remember to take care of yourself too Deb, I will keep praying.

Hi Everyone,

We tried talking to my father this morning about going to a cardiologist.

He refuses to go unless his doctor says he wants him too, his doctor refuses

to send him to a cardiologist. When he went in the hospital his PT levels

were 6.4, they've gone down some but not much they won't tell us what they

are now. They took him off the lasix, which we don't understand if he is

filled with fluid. He has lost some but not much. His heart rate is very

irregular, this morning was jumping between 122 and 156. It hasn't gone

down much since being admitted the highest was 178 or 187 the first day.

So unless the doctor suggests a cardiologist my dad won't go. His wife said

something to my one sister there we can get a power of attorney. The doctor

claims the bronchitis turned into congestive heart failure.

They did some kind of electric charge on his heart while he was under to get

the regular rythem back. Everything came out ok and if things go well he

will be coming home tomorrow. Thank you all for your prayers they met more

they you know.
