I bet you cant guess how many times a patient would come to the

practice, and say can you fix my crown back in?? when we couldnt find

a loose one, and asked which one is it, the replies were usually 'oh i

superglued it back in the meantime' and we could never get the bloody

things back out.

so on a lighter note i will skip the superglue, just in case I get

done for child abuse!!!!

How or where can you get insurance on hearing aides/BAHA. I would love to

insure ours.

My son wears the BAHA he is 2. He hides it and throws it

frequently. Just the other day I could not find it anywhere in our house.

I spent 6 hours straight turning the house upside down looking for it.... I

found it that night in my daughter's school backpack. Apparently he scooted

over to the backpack which was on the floor by our front door. And before

she got on the bus he stuck it in the backpack to get rid of it for the

day........LOL.

Ahhh, Les, good old NHS I say! I look at the implant equipment and shudder

about the potential damage to £30,000 (around maybe $55,000?) worth of

equipment and shudder. Never mind her head that has bumped all over

the place with the potential of damaging the internal implant, she is quite

brutal with the external equipment too. Besides yanking it (and it is

amazing how relaxed the audios are about this!), we have been a little

concerned about the sound processor ending up in the toilet. She was given

a behind the ear processor but her little CHARGE ears are too small to hold

this so we opted for the body worn processor which lives in a belt round her

waist. Well, bless her little toilet skills, she pulls the belt down with

her trousers when she goes to the loo, which has the effect of pulling the

processor from the belt and she makes an appearance with the processor

dangling round her knees instead of in the belt! It is so funny to see.

How it has not ended up in the toilet already is a mystery. The only

consolation is in knowing that the hospital would provide us with another

one! I have taken to putting the belt round her chest. At next week's

appointment, we are asking for a harness! My mental health can't survive

this!

I will never complain again about the NHS, well not for a week or two

at least, but only because we are home.

I had no idea how much implants cost, quite amazed and ever more so

relieved, i live in the UK. cant wait to get ours!! not sure when that

will be, not a priority just yet.

I can only imagine your mental health state, and the and loo scenario.

Fleur threw my special watch a gift for my 30th bday (many years

ago!!) down the toilet and flushed it, i never saw it again, gutted!!

so now I have all this to look forward to with Amelie, she is finding

great use for her aids as teething blocks the rubber is cushioning

them just fine!!! My mental health is deteriorating fast and its early

doors yet for me!!

Based on my experiences as a teacher of deaf/deafblind infants for

many years, I agree with . Give her a reason to want to keep the

aid(s) in and eventually she will. Initially keep 'hearing aid time'

special - short, sweet, positive and FUN! Give her interesting things

to listen to (like your voice singing hello as soon as aids go in)

and things to do with her hands to keep them occupied (and away from

aids!), without bombarding her with too much.

Fingerplays are great too.
