Tyler - June 16th 2002 :-) Seems weird to have a name associated

with the kicking going on in there :-) I'm still amazed.

Amy

Congrats to you and your hubby, Caroline! I'm so pleased for you!

My good friends who have had 4 children in 5 years say that you should get

as much rest as you can now, because you won't get it after the baby's born!

So be good to yourself and hope the next several months are smooth and easy!

Hi Elaine, funny you asked about hyper symptoms. I was on low dose until

last month when I started to have some mild palps and tremors. I wasn't

surprised as this was 3 plus months after the birth. I am now on 200 mgs

PTU. My numbers were elevated , know only T3 was 300 and think Ft4 was 1.9.

Funny though I had slightly readable TSH of .02. My TSH was starting to

come back last summer (0.05) for the first time in years. I am not too

concerned as I respond quite well to even lower doses of PTU. The only

thing is my endo doesn't like me breastfeeding on PTU, says 200 mgs is a

high dose. I breast fed my last two kids with doses of even higher 300 mgs.

The info I read including my nursing books say up to 450 is pretty well

safe. And of course the endo is starting the RAI stuff again. At this

point I will not do anything until the baby is a year anyway. But I think I

would rather do surgery. I would rather have my own thyroid producing

thryoid hormones instead of killing it off. But I have time. Caroline, any

others have surgery, how is it? Easier to control than the RAI with its

wild fluctuations? Just trying to get the facts straight when I go to the

endo. By the way she is rather good despite the Rai thing as I canceled my

appt. this week because of sick kids and she called me with my labs. She

told me not to worry about coming in and having to wait for hrs in the

waiting room, instead she will have me run labs and correspond over the

phone unless I have some dire problems. I'd say this is very understanding

of her. Then again she is a mom of three kids. Well, off to tend to the

kids. I.

Hi Elaine,

I just had surgery in Dec so I'll let you know how I

progress getting regulated. So far so good though.

Dr upded my dose of levoxyl from 50 mgc to 100 mgc a

day and told me to watch my body and adjust as needed

and even went on to tell me how which I thought was

great. I go back in a month and get more blood work.

Good luck with the little one. I have 4 girls the

youngest is a year old so enjoy they grow up

sooooooooooo fast....:)

Hi ,

Your doctor does sound easy to work with, which is half of the battle. Good

chance that your thyroid levels will eventually go down after the postpartum

period and after you finish nursing. keep well, Elaine

Sorry, but this idea of the placenta moving is an old wives tale:

Once the placenta attaches to the wall of the uterus, it is there

and will not budge: if it detatches, you are in real trouble, or at

least your baby is. But as the uterus expands, what seems to be

over the cervixal opening may prove not to be. I would think that

by 18 1/2 weeks it would be pretty clear what is happening there,

and if they would have told you it was in the wrong place, ask

how much, and how they think it may affect your pregnancy. It

may be only very slight. But if you know, you can make sure it

doesn't become a problem. I happen to know two women who

had this, and who had to have caesarean deliveries as a result,

but they were told it doesn't always mean a caesarean. So all

the best--

Dear Amy

Thank you for your wish - I wish them back to you also. We haven't decided if we

want to know the sex or not yet. I

love the name you have chosen. It must be a bit weird calling to baby by name

before you get to actually meet him.

Look forward to sharing the next few months.

Cheers

Caroline
