Guest guest Posted January 21, 2006 Report Posted January 21, 2006 As promised, here I am. I have lurked for so long, where to start. OK my marriage broke up 17 months ago, and as I said to last night in the chat room, this damned disease was a contributing factor. I was caring for my mum if you remember, which I did up until her death on October 22, 2003 (looking back don't know how I managed). 6 months ago, I sold our house and bought this new one so also a move in there. My husband just got up one morning and walked out without warning. Somehow I managed (once again) to pack up the entire house myself (and believe me it was a hugeeeeeeeeeeeee place, with remnants from the 3 children as well) sell it and move. So I am sitting here exhausted. A couple of years ago I tried the Australian equivalent of Armour (they just call it natural desiccated thyroid) best I could do was a chemist in Adelaide(I am in South Australia) who made up time release so I was on 180 mgs (or is it mcgs)??? felt great for a short time then next lot of bloods my TSH had shot up 6 and can't remember what my free's were and I felt awful, so back now on thyroxine 300 mcgs. I had bloods done a couple of months ago. They were fasting ones as when I have them done, I also have a whole heap of other stuff done like glucose levels/cholesterol etc. Unfortunately I had taken my meds not long prior which may have skew-wiffed my readings but here they are TSH < 0.05 (0.5-3.7) Free T4 19 pmol/L (10-25) Free T3 5.3 pmol/L (3.1-5.4) The clinical notes from the lab suggested I was on too high a dose, but as I had just taken my meds, that may have skewed the readings. Also, would fasting have an effect?? I am about to bite the bullet and go see a doc recommended on Shomon's site. I was also given his name by a well-known doctor here in Australia. I went to a seminar of hers and we lined up briefly after and I got about 2 minutes with her to tell her I was hypothyroid. I am hoping he can work with me on this. I have since found a chemist in Sydney who makes up 1 grain doses of Armour which might be preferrrable than the time released ones. With my free T3 looking so good (yes I know I should go on how I feel!) would it be advantageous to decrease my T4 dose and add T3 ??? That is presuming I don't give Armour another trial ?? (struggle just a little bit with that, had a hypo person tell me it was bad karma to take it ......she is a vegan) OK will leave it there and throw it out for what it's worth. fatigue and brain fog are my companions and I really hope this new doc will get working with me on my adrenals, my usual doc won't touch that area..................take care all...............Meleese xxx Quote
